Portuguese language translations seldom generate any particular obstacles to the professional Portuguese translator. This is true in both directions – for Portuguese into English translation and English into Portuguese translation.
However there are significant differences between the written
Portuguese of Portugal and Brazil, including differences in
vocabulary, spelling and use of accents, grammar and style (particularly
capitalization and punctuation). The differences are such that
a document is immediately identifiable as being from one or
the other region.
Thus European and Brazilian Portuguese are effectively considered
different target languages for Portuguese translation purposes,
and translators from the correct target region should always
be used.
In addition to Portugal and Brazil, Portuguese is also spoken
in parts of Africa - Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau,
Sao Tome and Principe. In general terms African Portuguese tends
to follow European Portuguese, with some additional vocabulary
differences, and in the vast majority of cases a European Portuguese
translation can be used in Portuguese-speaking Africa.

handle all written forms.

Portuguese can be readily typeset in all major graphic design programs, and most English fonts contain the extended character sets that include the accented letters used in Portuguese. This means that when we are working with an existing English graphic design file, the same fonts can almost always be used for the Portuguese text.
There are no real issues involved in Portuguese typesetting, only occasional space constraints due to Portuguese translations generally being somewhat longer than the original English text. Hyphenation, if used, must of course follow Portuguese and not English rules.
