Vietnamese language translation is generally largely problem-free for the professional translator, both for Vietnamese into English and for English into Vietnamese translation. The Vietnamese alphabet is based on the Latin
alphabet with the addition of nine accent marks or diacritics.
The many diacritics, often two on the same letter, make written

– Word, Excel, PowerPoint – should display correctly
on almost any computer providing standard Unicode fonts are
used.
However Vietnamese is also frequently keyboarded using specifically
designed Vietnamese fonts and input methods, and documents created
this way will only display correctly when the fonts used are
installed on the computer viewing the file.
It is common to also supply Vietnamese translations created in Microsoft
Office applications as pdf files to assist users unfamiliar
with the language and avoid any possible font issues.
Vietnamese Typesetting
Vietnamese can be typeset as raw text in most major graphic design programs on Mac and PC using Vietnamese Unicode fonts. There is now an excellent range of these fonts available, so there are few limitations on possible design or layout.
Typesetting Vietnamese does not involve any specific issues, only that space can sometimes be a problem as Vietnamese translations are typically somewhat longer than the original English text.
