Whenever a full translation of any form of recorded speech
is required, the first step is to transcribe (write down) exactly
what is said in the language in which it is spoken. Depending
on the speed and clarity of the speakers’ speech, this
may involve replaying some segments several times. The translation
is then completed from this written transcription, whilst checking
back against the audio to confirm the accuracy of the transcription
and for clarification where necessary. Typically the client
is supplied with both the transcription and the translation.
Pacific International Translations is able to certify both the transcription and translation if required, for example, where these are to be used as evidence in Court.
Alternatives
There will, however, be many circumstances where a full translation
will not be necessary.
For example, if just a broad overview of the content is all that
is required, our translators can listen to the recording, identify
the key points and provide a summary
translation of the material.
Alternatively if you only need to extract certain information
from the recording, we can either provide a full translation
of just the relevant sections of the audio (a selective
translation), or a summary translation to cover just the
information required.
